GEIA to Co-host June 2020 Canada-Africa Agriculture Summit in Regina, Canada

The timing for crucial conversations on advancing Canada-Africa commercial relations, particularly in the agricultural sector, has never been more important. To make major advances, key players across the entire value chain must be at the table. The Summit is being jointly organized by the Sprott Centre for African Research and Business, in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, Canada’s Farm Progress Show and other Canadian and pan-African institutions. Every year, the Farm Progress Show brings more than 30,000 producers, manufacturers, buyers and industry experts together for a global summit of innovation in dryland farming, technology, business, modern living and entertainment. From June 17-26, 2019, the Global Economic Institute for Africa hosted Sierra Leone’s Honourable Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Memunatu Pratt and officials of the National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls. GEIA’s Director Fergus Maclaren in Kenya to Sign MOU on Economic Development Centre

August 2019: GEIA’s Director of International Relations & Knowledge Management (Mr. Fergus Maclaren) was in Kenya recently to meet with the Vice-Chancellor, Mount Kenya University (Prof Stanley Waudo), Director of Marketing at the Kenya Tourism Board (Ms. Jacinta Nzioka) and other senior officials at the MOU signing ceremony for the East African chapter of a recently established regional economic development initiative. GEIA Directors Meet with Morocco’s Minister of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development in Rabat

In April 2019, GEIA Directors Dr. Fred Olayele and Ms. Sherry Lee visited the Moroccan cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Tangier. They were hosted by the Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines, and Sustainable Development, Mr. Aziz Rabbah. They also visited Tanger Med, Morocco’s global logistics gateway, connected to 174 ports across the world, including 37 in Africa.
